A few years ago I test drove a pretty meager-condition 260Z. Throttle cable was sticky, clutch was on its last legs , rust on the hood and rocker panels. The dude wanted 5k, and I noped outta there and paid 1/3 of that for my rust-free MR2 instead .
Today, the cheapest Z on my local CL is a ’77 280Z. Automatic, hasn’t run since 2019, rusty. Wants $6,500.
That Z I turned down back then would have been a bargain by today’s standards :(

You made the right decision don’t worry about it. z owners spend 75% of their time keeping a 45 year old car barely running and 25% actually driving it.
